Turkey's Boron Industry

Drilling in Boron Mines

Boron ore is typically soft to medium hardness, requiring different drilling parameters than hard rock mining. Blast hole drilling for open-pit operations and development drilling for underground mines are the main applications.

Equipment Requirements

Surface drill rigs with top-hammer or DTH drills are used for open-pit blast hole drilling. Underground development uses hydraulic drifters. The relatively soft rock conditions mean lower wear rates than hard rock applications.
